Amy is an artist based in Glasgow. Born in 1983, Dumfries, Scotland, she recently graduated from the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam where she studied a Master of Fine Art degree from 2017-2019. Previous to that she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Sculpture at the Edinburgh College of Art from 2001-2005.
Amy's work is about a direct involvement with paint by looking at the act of painting as a process to take hold of one's own perceptions - be it at a conscious and/or sub-conscious level - reflecting life in continual flux and the potential to be something else entirely. She researches different ways of interpreting this world through ideas of ecological and feminist thinking, love and loss, the mundane and the spiritual. She is interested in the immediacy of paint to be a means to link thought and 'non-thought' of these notions.
